Telling Stories with Photos and Furniture

My day spent with Allyson from @old2bold was amazing for lots of reasons. Firstly, because I just LOVE capturing people in their element, working with their hands and getting creative. This branding session was just so fun because through restoring her amazing pieces, Allyson feels she gets to give them a new opportunity to tell their story. I feel the same way about photography, I love getting to help business owners tell their story and share their brand with the world.

Allyson’s studio is at her home (that she’s also restoring gradually). Through this session and video (check it out at the bottom of this post) her audience get a sneak peek into her world of creativity. They get to see the face behind the creations, the love that goes into every piece and the little touches, like the gorgeous embellishments she has used in her own kitchen. We wanted to capture the raw beauty of the pieces, as well as the paint under the fingernails and the quality products that Allyson loves to work with and her gorgeous 4-legged assistant Rose.

Many may be able to relate with Allyson, she doesn’t want her brand or social media to be filled with her own face but rather the pieces she lovingly restoring. We did get some headshots because people do love to see the who is pouring such love and life into pieces, but we also focused on shots that promote the types of projects she does and the products that she uses. Along with this we also took some stock type images, that represent the creativity and restoration that is @old2bold. The stories of the stunning pieces Allyson works with cannot be told with also highlighting the tools, products and space in which restoration and creation take place.

By compiling both headshots, lifestyle ‘action’ shots, shots with her gorgeous dogs and of her studio where people can come to buy pieces, Allyson now has a library of content to keep people interested and engaged in between her own images of her latest projects.
