FAQ

Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?

I’m a natural light photographer located in Richmond NSW, right in the heart of the beautiful Hawkesbury Valley where we have an abundance of beautiful outdoor photo locations right on our doorstep. After chatting with you and finding out more about the needs of your family, I’ll suggest a suitable location to fit your vision and your lifestyle.

I also love to photograph in my clients homes. Creating memories in your homes is not only convenient, but it gives so much meaning to the images when you look back on them in 5 or 10 years time. The images are homey, relaxing, and paint a true picture of your family’s story at this time in your lives.

Newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your own home.

What does the session fee include?

My standard session fee covers our time together creating your new family memories. It includes our planning of your custom session, 1-2 hours on locations, as well as curating and preparing your images ready for your design appointment.

It does not includes any prints or digital files. These can be purchased at your design appointment.

what happens if it rains on our session day?

Due to the nature of photographing outdoors, we will be reliant on the weather for both the actual shoot and the look and style of the resulting photos. The shoot will go ahead under most weather conditions, except for rain.  I'll keep an eye on the weather and if there is a high chance of rain for your session day we can reschedule to a more suitable day. If there is a low-mid chance of rain, we can stick to our plans and see what the weather actually looks like a couple of hours before your shoot. I find that a day forecasted to be rainy often turns out fine. No matter what the weather, I'll be in contact with you in the lead up to your session.

If we’re photographing in your home however, weather won’t be an issue :)

what happens if I need to reschedule our session?

It’s only natural with babies and children, that things come up and you may need to reschedule your session. My session fee includes one reschedule to another day within 30 days of the original session date, however rescheduling more than once will forfeit the session fee and you’re welcome to rebook another date when you’re available.

what should we wear?

The most important piece of advice I can offer is to stay true to who you are as a family and match your clothing style to your personalities. If you're a casual family and don't dress up very often, then definitely dress casually. If you're often going out and love dressing up then make sure you show that in your family pictures. Whatever your personal style, you want to look back on your pictures and say 'that's so us!'

1. Pick a palette of 3 or 4 colours
2. Don't wear shirts with logos or bold graphic prints.
3. Avoid all wearing the same thing.
4. Avoid wearing overly bright colours.
5. Match your style to the location.

How can we schedule the date of the newborn session when I’m unsure of the birth date?

Just book a date about 2 weeks after your due date and because most newborns are unpredictable I’ll always pencil in another date a week after that just in case you go late. I’m always flexible with newborn sessions, so just keep in touch with me as you go and we can adjust your session date if need be.

What happens after our session?

About 1-2 weeks afterwards, you’ll come to my home studio in Richmond to view your images and relive the memories we recently created. Together we’ll design the photo pieces we discussed in our consultation, ensuring that what you envisioned at the start of the experience comes to life. Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup about 2 weeks after the design appointment, and all that’s left for you to do is enjoy your new portraits and family memories.

what kind of photo products do you offer?

After photographing families for over 8 years, I’ve created a product menu that covers most people’s needs, with pieces sourced from the industry’s top photo labs. From small prints to display around your home, to designing custom wall galleries and heirloom albums, not to mention beautiful bespoke gifts for family and friends, I’ve got something for everyone. And with every printed piece you purchase, the digital file is also included. You can see more of my photo products here >

How much should I expect to budget?

Over the years, I’ve found that each of my clients have different needs, so it really depends on what photo products you love and how you choose to enjoy your new memories. Generally speaking though, most clients spend between $800 and $2,300. But we can chat beforehand and once I know more about what you’d like from your session, I can give you a more detailed budget expectation.

Have any more questions? I’d love to hear from you :)
