FAQ

What does the session fee include?

The session fee is payable to secure your booking, and covers our three in-person appointments together: 1. Planning Appointment 2. The Photosession 3. Ordering Appointment. Digital images are not included in the session fee. Your digital collections will be available for purchase at your Ordering Appointment.

Why do you have in-person appointments?

Communication is vital for an amazing experience! Often, important information can be overlooked in an email, or misheard over a distracted phone call. I love being able to learn more about you family over a cuppa and a face-to-face chat. And my clients love that they can get to know me better - which helps put them at ease on photo day - plus they love having all their questions answers in one conversation.
Also, in this ever-changing digital world and all the plaigerism software so freely available on the market, I’m unable to release any form of digital imagery from my studio until the files have been purchased.

Where will the photos be taken?

I’m a natural light photographer located in Richmond NSW, right in the heart of the beautiful Hawkesbury Valley. Your family photo shoot will be held at one of the stunning outdoor photo locations right here on our doorstep. After chatting with you and finding out more about the needs of your family, I’ll suggest a suitable location to fit your vision and your lifestyle.

The best location for newborn photos is in your home so you can relax in your own space without having to pack up the family.

What happens if it rains on our session day?

Due to the nature of photographing outdoors, we will be reliant on the weather for both the actual photoshoot and the look and style of the resulting photos. The shoot will go ahead under most weather conditions, except for rain.  I'll keep an eye on the weather and if there is a high chance of rain for your session day we can reschedule to a more suitable day. If there is a low-mid chance of rain, we can stick to our plans and see what the weather actually looks like a couple of hours before your shoot. I find that a day forecasted to be rainy often turns out fine. No matter what the weather, I'll be in contact with you in the lead up to your session.

If we’re photographing in your home however, the weather won’t be an issue :)

What happens if I need to reschedule our session?

It’s only natural with babies and children, that things come up and you may need to reschedule your session. My session fee includes one reschedule to another day within 30 days of the original session date, however rescheduling more than once will forfeit the session fee and you’re welcome to rebook another date when you’re available.

What should we wear for family photos?

The most important piece of advice I can offer is to stay true to who you are as a family and match your clothing style to your personalities. If you're a casual family and don't dress up very often, then definitely dress casually. If you're often going out and love dressing up then make sure you show that in your family photos. Whatever your personal style, you want to look back on your pictures and say 'that's so us!'

At your Planning Appointment, we’ll go over this in more detail, and I’ll help guide you with outfits that will suit your family.

How can we schedule the date of the newborn session when I’m unsure of the birth date?

Just book a date about 2 weeks after your due date and because most newborns are unpredictable I’ll always pencil in another date a week after that just in case you go late. I’m always flexible with newborn sessions, so just keep in touch with me as you go and we can adjust your session date if need be.

What happens after our photo session?

About 1-2 weeks after your photo shoot, we’ll meet up again at your ordering appointment to view your photos and curate your favourites into your chosen collection. If your collection includes some printed pieces, I’ll help you select the best photos for those pieces and guide you with framing options and sizing. Custom printed artwork takes about 3 weeks to create at the photo lab, but in the meantime your digital collection will be emailed to you via an online gallery so you can enjoy the photos straight away.

What kind of photo products do you offer?

As well as your chosen digital collection, I can help you turn those pixels into printed masterpieces! After photographing families for over 10 years, I’ve created a product menu that covers most people’s needs, with pieces sourced from the industry’s top photo labs. From small prints to display around your home, to designing custom wall galleries and heirloom albums - I’ve got something for everyone. Purchasing printed products isn’t required, but it’s a extra service that my clients love!!

How much should I expect to budget for?

Over the years, I’ve found that each of my clients have different needs, so it really depends on what photos you love and how you choose to enjoy your new memories. My digital collections start at $660. Some families choose to spend a few hundred, and some choose to spend a few thousand creating a custom collection that they love. But we can chat beforehand and once I know more about what you’d like from your session, I can give you a more detailed budget expectation before you commit to booking.
