Family Christmas Advent Calendar

—- Week 3 —-

Christmas is kind of like an annual time marker. So much changes between Christmases. One whole year of your kids’ growth and development that you’ll never have again. This can be a bit overwhelming to think about sometimes, but what better way to make the most of every year, than getting a little moment in each day to celebrate your kids, your family and the season of Christmas. In amongst fun together, maybe you’ll notice their spark for craft, or knack for cooking. In the very least, you’ll have some delicious sweets to share, and a chocolate-covered smile that’s worth the washing up.

December 15 : Nursing home

A lovely way to spread Christmas cheer and the season of giving is to visit a local nursing home. If you have any of the Christmas cookies still lying around, you may want to bring a little something for patrons that may not see family at Christmas time. Other ideas may be visiting the local fire station, the pound, or a group that has served your family throughout the year.

December 16 : Christmas printables

Remember these from Week 1 ?! There were so many great ones for the kids to enjoy, and I figure if you’re anything like me, you might appreciate a few moments to yourself to finish up a last minute task, or just have a well-earned cuppa.

December 17 : making ‘White Christmas’

Whether you like yours with nuts and cranberries or red jelly raspberries and rice bubbles, White Christmas is a fun, no-bake sweet that’s sure to impress.

December 18 : Gingerbread house

Ahh the gingerbread house! For most of us, it was our first experiment with exterior design. Grab a kit from your local supermarket, along with a few bags of your favourite lollies (musk sticks and freckles are always a winner).

December 19 : make some Bonbons

This fun little craft can be made with things you already have at home. Save a few toilet paper rolls, maybe some of the christmas wrapping paper you designed and fill them with tiny treats for the kids to enjoy later.

December 20 : have a Movie night

After a busy week, the best way to unwind can be to chill out. So, get in some comfy pj’s, curl up on the couch with a mug of hot milo and watch your favourite Christmas movie. Whether it’s an old classic like Miracle of 34th Street, or something new and funny like ‘The Grinch’ or ‘Elf’, it’s a wonderful time for everyone to unwind and share the joy of Christmas.

December 21 : see the Christmas lights

I just love the iconic Christmas lights drive or walk. We are so lucky to live in such a festive area, where loads of streets get in the spirit, whether decked out with lights and reindeer, or a lawn covered in milk bottles and tea light candles. Share the magic with your family, and connect with other families too!
