Family Christmas Advent Calendar
—- Week 2 —-
Christmas is a unique time of year, full of gathering, feasting, celebrating and gift-giving. And the way each family celebrates Christmas is also unique. Some go on holiday, some families stay home. Some celebrate on Christmas Eve, some come together on Boxing Day. Some have a really busy day, others take it slow and relaxed. Whatever Christmas looks like for your family, this advent calendar is the perfect way to keep fun and family at the forefront and create some sweet moments that matter.
December 8 : making Grinch fruit kebabs
Look at these little cuties. A touch of fruit and a touch of sweets make the perfect, easy afternoon tea.
December 9 : Christmas card making
Time to get crafty and make some special cards for friends, teachers, family or neighbours. Get out the crayons, textas, glue and glitter and make some masterpieces.
December 10 : Candy cane hunt
Why wait until Easter? Hide candy canes around the yard or house and let the kids find as many as they can.
December 11 : Christmas shopping scavenger hunt
This one is for the brave! The shops at this time of year are filled with carols, tinsel and pictures of santa. Print out one of these scavenger hunt lists for the kids, brave your local shops and see what they can find. Who knows, maybe in the process you’ll be able to get some shopping done too. Win-win!
December 12 : Watermelon Christmas trees
Nothing says summer like a big, juicy slice of watermelon. These Christmas shaped snacks are the perfect refreshing and healthy afternoon tea treat. Check them out here.
December 13 : Baking Christmas cookies
What better way to spread Christmas cheer than by baking cookies to be shared. Maybe they’ll become a gift for friends, coaches or teachers. Maybe they’ll be mum’s secret midnight snack. Either way, they’re too yummy not to make!
December 14 : Glow in the Dark bowling
How fun does this look? Do you have some 600ml drink bottles lying around? Collect 9 together and fill them with glow sticks for some crazy simple fun. Check out this link for details on how to make it happen and pictures for inspiration.
I’ve pinned plenty of inspiration, as well as the printable for the scavenger hunt and a recipe for Christmas cookies on my Pinterest page. I hope this week creates lots of opportunities for fun and laughter and silliness. If you happen to capture some of those times, I’d love to see them on Facebook or Instagram #christmasfamilyness
