Locations for Outdoor Family Photos with Young Boys

As a boy mum, you may have a lot on your mind when it comes to planning a family photoshoot. I’m here to help with all of it, but especially location choice. If you’re looking for relaxed, fun outdoor family photos, I got you!

With each family that books in a family photoshoot, I scout locations that suit the age and stage of the family. For families with young boys who love to explore and have adventures, I prioritise safety and fun. Below are five things to consider for your outdoor family photoshoot in the Hawkesbury.

Safety First

A main priority when choosing a family-friendly spot for an outdoor photoshoot is safety. We want the whole family, and especially the kids, to be able to explore and enjoy running free, without the worry of anything dangerous, like cliffs, snakes, busy roads or deep waters.

Interesting Greenery

When choosing an outdoor location for family photos in the Hawkesbury, we’re also choosing the backdrop for these forever memories. I love to choose places with interesting plant life, cool trees and greenery, and scrubby grass. I’m always mindful that together with long grass off in the background, we have shorter cut grass where the family is positioned, so we can make sure that no slitherly dangers are about!

Fun Features

Bonus points go to outdoor locations with cool features to keep your kiddos interested and interacting. This could be a giant log, interesting tree trunks, large bolders or other natural features that allow your child to explore and loosen up in the natural environment.

Stage of Life

This family photoshoot was done with two young, shy boys. Having such a fun and safe outdoor area to explore helped them to loosen up, smile and get some wonderful images of their adorable personalities. It also allowed the parents to be at ease, meaning the day was not only for getting photos, but also for having fun! For older kids and teens, the criteria for location would be different again. This is one thing we’ll discuss at your planning appointment to make sure our photo location is perfectly suited to your family.

Good Parking

There’s a lot to keep track of on family photo day. Children in nice outfits, possibly some picnic props amongst other things, so the last thing you want is the stress of being somewhere crowded or on a busy main road. Locations with plenty of safe parking are a great option.
