As Autumn approaches, the colours of the turning leaves fill the Hawkesbury. Hike or Bushwalk
The Hawkesbury is home to many beautiful places to stretch your legs. From short walks in Kurrajong to suit the littlies to longer family hikes around Bowen Mountain or Yarramundi, there’s no end of options to explore and sites to see.
Kayaking or Hire Boats
However you like to enjoy the water best, the Hawkesbury is home to many beautiful riverside locations. Our family has just taken up kayaking and we just love it! It gets us out of the house and spending time together doing something that's both active and relaxing at the same time. Or you can stay even longer on the river and hire a boat overnight. No boat licence necessary.

Fruit Picking
Head up to Bilpin for some fruit picking that is sure to get everyone involved. Make sure you grab an apple pie to bring home for a mouth-watering dessert. And if you can’t wait until you get home, check out the awesome ice cream at Tutti Fruitti using crushed fresh fruit! It's absolutely delicious!
Enjoy a Picnic
Hawkesbury is home to no end of beautiful parks for a family picnic. Complete with play equipment for the kids and barbeques for the snags, Governor Phillip Park in Windsor has it all for a no stress family afternoon. For a beachier feel, try Macquarie Park on the Hawkesbury River or Yarramundi Reserve.
Trees Adventure
Lots of fun for kids aged 4 and up, this adventure course in Yarramundi will have everyone reaching new heights. Ranging in difficulty and with options to suit every level, this bushland setting is perfect for a day of family bonding.
Hawkesbury Show
The renowned Hawkesbury Show is held annually, this year running from May 10 - 12. From exhilarating rides and carnival food to woodchopping, livestock and a fireworks display, Hawkesbury Show has something for everyone.

Nestled in Bilpin lies the beautiful Wildwood Gardens. Perfect for kids of all ages, these stunning gardens include fairy gardens, gnomes, ponds and more. Take a picnic or enjoy a delicious treat from the cafe. You can even stroll through their garden nursery and take some of their beautiful plants home for your own garden.
Australiana Pioneer Village
In a beautiful outdoor setting in Wilberforce awaits the chance for both family fun and an educational day out complete with train rides, feeding animals and a working blacksmith. Special events taking place for ANZAC day, Easter and the school holidays.
