The first year of a baby’s life is amazing isn’t it?! They arrive in this world, tiny and new, needing complete help and nourishment. Yet, even in just a few months, right before our very eyes, they come into their own. These precious months, in between being a newborn and turning one, can often be forgotten in baby photography. But I love highlighting this sweet age. With their big smiles, new expressions, and the little mannerisms that they’ll keep for life. They can sit independently, yet they still have those totally adorable chubby baby thighs. How special to capture the way they sit, the way they smile, things they take a liking to, all highlight the person they are already becoming. It’s when their personalities just start to shine through. What a gift to preserve all those precious baby features before they grow into toddlers, and little girls and boys.
This fun shoot with River captures this sweet infant stage. At her newborn photography session, she was a gorgeous little bundle, being doted on by mum, dad and her two big siblings. I’m sure in the coming year she’ll be running rings around her parents with those same big siblings. But for now, in this sweet blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-moment, this is her. Sitting, playing, content, and in wonder at the big wide world around her.
